Best Fandom Bracket- Transformers vs Marvel

Wow, that last round was pretty fascinating. Fire Emblem originally was holding an advantage of one vote yesterday. Around 9am Psych had taken back the lead by one vote. But once I got back from lunch, Fire Emblem took Psych by storm. The final result? Fire Emblem received 68.8% of the vote. Fire Emblem crosses to the next round.

We move on to the next round of the fandom polls to Transformers vs Marvel. This is the part where I recap the rules again. Um… read the article then vote. Allow yourself to be persuaded a bit and whatnot. Oh, I figure I should point out that I will not vote on any of these polls unless there is still a tie after me reaching out for more votes.

Let’s get on with it.

Opening Argument: Transformers

Transformers. Cars and other vehicles that are actually giant robots in disguise. When looking back at your time with Transformers, you find that it is truly unique. Unlike so many other shows that you used to watch, unlike all the other shows that had toys that you collected, this one was actually good. It actually holds up to a critical eye, unlike the Power Rangers and Voltron. Let’s just be honest.

And this set of toys has had a major presence throughout the years in so many different mediums. We’ve had movies, cartoons, shows, and video games. They’ve even had comics. Optimus is just that awesome. They’ve had dramatic weight. They’ve also just been awesomeness via constant explosions.

To go even further, those toys were pretty sweet. Combining Optimus Prime with Jetfire was so sweet. For all the toys, you essentially had the benefit of having toy cars and having giant robots all in one package! Who among us had an Autobot fight the Megazord? The toys were just that awesome. What a great franchise.

Opening Argument: Marvel

Um….. you’re kidding me, right? Transformers? Transformers of all things? Nearly any other fandom represented on here would be fun to debate with. But this just isn’t even fair. Transformers has nothing on Marvel. Absolutely nothing.

In fact, I think this is so incredibly one-sided, unlike any of the other potential debates on here, that I’m not even going to attempt to make the case. I’ll just throw in a picture (or GIF) to give my thoughts at the moment.

Rebuttal: Transformers

Transformers-Dinobots_poster.jpg

Dinobots! We’ve got dinobots! We’ve got the best part of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! Besides, most of the Marvel toys kinda suck. Have you ever tried using one of their web shooters? Nothing like cruddy silly string being shot.

And let’s not forget about the grand lore and story that comes with the Transformers. We’ve got multiple planets, many grand enemies, and actual deaths of main characters that mean a great deal. So many Marvel deaths mean so little because we’re sure that they’ll come right back.

Plus you’ve got to love the iconic voice of Optimus Prime. That guy could partner up with Morgan Freeman to narrate just about anything.

Rebuttal: Marvel

Conclusion: Transformers

Listen, this isn’t as one sided as Marvel would make you think. Marvel isn’t without its faults. They sold off their property to get out of bankruptcy. What did we get from that? We got two terrible Fantastic Four movies (and a third thing that doesn’t deserve to be called a movie). They gave X:Men Origins Wolverine. What about their own flops? Howard the Duck?

Transformers, on the other hand, has consistent quality. It has consistent  relevance to each and every generation since its inception. You see plenty of Autobot and Decepticon stickers on random cars in the road. It has cultural impact and shouldn’t be so easily pushed aside. Roll out. Vote Transformers.

Conclusion: Marvel
